Tell Me Where You Want to Go

About the recording & credits

Started during the COVID-19 pandemic, this EP introduced live drums to my home-studio recordings. With Jack Lawless living in Los Angeles, I sent him the songs, and he recorded drums on every track and sent them back. I recorded the other instruments and vocals using Logic Pro on a Mac, then produced, mixed, and mastered the EP myself.

Risqué

About the recording & credits

Recorded in my parents’ basement as I moved toward electronic and pop music. I began incorporating Auto-Tune and making beats and software-instrument parts in Fruity Loops and Reason, recording with Cakewalk SONAR and my MOTU UltraLite. Live, I performed these songs with backing tracks on an iPod and a rack-mounted Auto-Tune unit to reproduce the vocal effects.

Bi-Polar Bear

About the recording & credits

Recorded in my childhood bedroom using Cakewalk SONAR, Fruity Loops and the MOTU UltraLite. Many songs were written while recording, as I experimented with techniques, effects and arrangements rather than following a fixed songwriting plan. Some tracks ended up deliberately—or at least unmistakably—incohesive. The album title reflects that unpredictable creative process.

Songs That Should Have Never Left the Bedroom

About the recording & credits

An entirely solo project from 2003–2005, largely recorded in my childhood bedroom. Many songs centered on acoustic guitar and vocals, with alternate tunings including DADADE, inspired in part by the Goo Goo Dolls. I also began experimenting with Fruity Loops, electronic drums and a Yamaha keyboard, recording in Cakewalk while transitioning from the Maya 10/10 to the MOTU UltraLite. Track 10 was recorded at Jerk Records in Middletown, New Jersey, with Pete Andrews producing and engineering.
