    Distraction Project
I was coughing And you were laughing It was late and You said that you were hungry We were Watching Something silly Playing on the TV I was asking what you wanted You said whatever you wanted And here we are again You looked away for just a minute I started snoring like a pig I woke up almost an hour later Feeling thirsty for a drink I denied that I was sleeping That's my usual performance I was only resting my eyes for a minute I promise And did you figure out What to door dash? I think I'm craving Mi Lupitas Can you order it? You looked away for just a minute I started snoring like a pig I woke up almost an hour later Feeling thirsty for a drink And we know This is falling apart But if we think about it we will never make it alive And we know This is falling apart And we know This is falling apart It's hard to find the good in what's around us But I sure feel lucky to be here regardless And I'll continue making the most of it With these late nights on Friday nights You looked away for just a minute I started snoring like a pig I woke up almost an hour later Feeling thirsty for a drink And we know This is falling apart But if we think about it we will never make it alive And we know This is falling apart But if we think about it we will never make it alive

    I Must Turn Around
I picked you up again I know it's hard But you got to walk with me You got to keep up with me I waited on the train platform I'm unsure when the next one will arrive The schedule is not on time I was trying to avoid it So I could put you to bed I must turn around Let me kiss you on the forehead before I go I lifted up my head And tried to muster up the courage to get in line where the others wait I'm heading back home It feels like I have been away too long Oh my god, look how you've grown I was trying to avoid it So I could put you to bed I must turn around Let me kiss you on the forehead before I go I made a promise to you I made a promise to you I would meet you on the other side I made a promise to you I made a promise to you I would meet you on the other side I was trying to avoid it So I could put you to bed I must turn around Let me kiss you on the forehead before I go

    Be Here Now
I find my looking for something more to do I'd rather not be working til my mind is clearly through Sometimes I need a break and I'm not able to I'm sorry but I'm not going back to work for you Oh please give me strength If I just had the voice to share If one of you just showed you care I would not be here now I would not be here now If one of you just showed you care I would not be here now I would not be here now When times get tough I try to lean my head on you We need to look out for each other when we're blue I may have some good days that I take care of you But I think today I just need some love from you Oh please give me strength If I just had the voice to share If one of you just showed you care I would not be here now I would not be here now If one of you just showed you care I would not be here now I would not be here now My mind is spinning around It's spinning around and over again My mind is spinning around It's spinning around and over again My mind is spinning around (I'm stuck in my head) It's spinning around and over again (I'm stuck in my head) My mind is spinning around (I'm stuck in my head) It's spinning around and over again (I'm stuck in my head) Oh please give me strength If I just had the voice to share If one of you just showed you care I would not be here now I would not be here now If one of you just showed you care I would not be here now I would not be here now

    Inkwell
A different time We were kids causing trouble through the night Looking for a place that will take us in Too old for the parks Not old enough for the bars It's gotten a little bittersweet We'll find ourselves holding hands Hidden from the eyes of the tired Hidden from the eyes of the tired Ocean avenue All the venues are closing down Yet we're still looking for a place that will take us in We're just ordering late night coffee Scrounging together change from our pockets Just for a place to sit and talk We'll find ourselves holding hands Hidden from the eyes of the tired Hidden from the eyes of the tired Memories of being in the inkwell Playing you songs in the courtyard Lighting up the stage with the moonlight Staying out late because it feels right Memories of being in the inkwell Playing you songs in the courtyard Lighting up the stage with the moonlight Staying out late because it feels right Memories of being in the inkwell Playing you songs in the courtyard Lighting up the stage with the moonlight Staying out late because it feels right We'll find ourselves holding hands Hidden from the eyes of the tired Hidden from the eyes of the tired

I Can See Myself In You
I've been polishing my boots Getting ready for a long walk home The support will do me good I kinda wish we could stop pretending These chemicals are burning me This uphill climb is never ending Protect us under the oak trees My heels feel like they have been Doing more work than my toes I can barely keep my balance anymore Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh I've been finding my own roots Sifting through some old photos I can see myself in you I kinda wish I had more time spent in Learning what you had been through Now I'm piecing things together In hopes to become close to you My heels feel like they have been Doing more work than my toes I can barely keep my balance anymore Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh And I know it's been a long time But I still think about you Oh, I know it's been a long time But I still think about you Oh, I know it's been a long time But I still think about you Oh, I know it's been a long time But I still think about you My heels feel like they have been Doing more work than my toes I can barely keep my balance anymore Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh

You Can Take Away What You Want To
Some days I get down on myself But I think that is normal With all of the gloom around us Everyone is talking with someone It's gotten harder to be alone With all the gloom around us You can take away what you want to You can take all of my money too But I don't even have what you are looking for You can take away what you want to You can hoard all of your money too But I know you will never be at peace with yourself Sometimes I tuck away things on my shelf But i think that is normal With all of the doom around us It is overwhelming everyone It's even harder to be alone With all of the doom around us You can take away what you want to You can take all of my money too But I don't even have what you are looking for You can take away what you want to You can hoard all of your money too But I know you will never be at peace with yourself Why would you want us to wait? Why would you want us to wait so long? Why would you want us to wait? Why would you want us to wait so long? You can take away what you want to You can take all of my money too But I don't even have what you are looking for You can take away what you want to You can hoard all of your money too But I know you will never be at peace with yourself

    Sometimes
And I know you've tried To stay in touch with me As we've gotten older It's gotten harder But where do you want me to drag your finger to? We can't pretend there isn't something we can do Sometimes I think you make them out to get you Sometimes I think you make them out to get you And it's alright To put this all on me As we've gotten older We've gotten wiser But where do you want me to point your fingers to You can't pretend there isn't something we can do Sometimes I think you make them out to get you And I find it hard to believe Sometimes I think you make them out to get you And I find it hard to believe And I know you've tried To stay in touch with me As we've gotten older It's gotten harder And it's alright To put this all on me As we've gotten older We've gotten wiser Sometimes I think you make them out to get you And I find it hard to believe Sometimes I think you make them out to get you And I find it hard to believe Sometimes I think you make them out to get you And I find it hard to believe Sometimes I think you make them out to get you

    All About You
And I've been taking a backseat with what I've seen And I've been biting my tongue while I shake your hand And I begin to break with anger more and more But I'm watching it all fall fall down You think it's all about you No one's ever stood in your way I believe that you're through The way you treat people is not okay You think it's all about you No one's ever stood in your way I believe that you're through The way you treat people is not okay And I've been taking a break from reading all the threads And I've been trying to be more productive instead And I've been waiting for the moment when we meet And I can't wait till you fall fall down You think it's all about you No one's ever stood in your way I believe that you're through The way you treat people is not okay You think it's all about you No one's ever stood in your way I believe that you're through The way you treat people is not okay You made up all these rumors You thought they would not catch on Now the people that you mislead are wishing you were gone How can someone who's been in the game for so long Have his narcissism lead to his total demise? You think it's all about you No one's ever stood in your way I believe that you're through The way you treat people is not okay You think it's all about you No one's ever stood in your way I believe that you're through The way you treat people is not okay Oh You know that it's true You know that it's true

    One More Time, We Did
When you were younger You would run to the door I was a celebrity I would swing you through the air "One more time," you said And one more time we did It's one of the only things that keeps me calm It clears my head when I'm filled with trauma Do you know how it feels? I'm in another dimension I'm back inside my head And I can't pay attention You know how I've been taking my time But I don't know if I've spent enough with you I would spend another day with you But only if you Only if you want me to You know how I've been taking my time But I don't know if I've spent enough with you I would spend another day with you But only if you Only if you want me to As you get older I have to get more creative To hang with you And I have been told that These are the most precious times The most precious times And it wasn't enough to know And it wasn't enough to know I had to see it myself I had to feel it myself And it wasn't enough to know And it wasn't enough to know I had to see it myself I had to feel it myself You know how I've been taking my time But I don't know if I've spent enough with you I would spend another day with you But only if you Only if you want me to You know how I've been taking my time But I don't know if I've spent enough with you I would spend another day with you But only if you Only if you want me to You've been taking photos of moments when we are with you I've been sneaking videos of moments to remember I put a tattoo on my shoulder Not because I would forget But because I want a reminder Every morning when I look in the mirror You know how I've been taking my time But I don't know if I've spent enough with you I would spend another day with you But only if you Only if you want me to You know how I've been taking my time But I don't know if I've spent enough with you I would spend another day with you But only if you Only if you want me to You know how I've been taking my time But I don't know if I've spent enough with you I would spend another day with you But only if you Only if you want me to

    Cold
I believe there is good in most Tucked somewhere under the fear It becomes a little easier It becomes a little easier You may have seen through this lens way before me You might believe things are getting worse Or we might just be observant Of the things we never saw before Of the things we never saw before It's breaking through the seams And we're holding on with all our might It's breaking through the seams And we're holding on with all our might If you come too close You're gonna pick up my cold If you come too close You're gonna pick up my cold You may have seen through this lens way before me If you come too close You're gonna pick up my cold You may have seen through this lens way before me If you come too close You're gonna pick up my cold You're gonna pick up my cold You're gonna pick up my cold I can't seem to shake this feeling of Being watched and i'm left nervous My fingers doing rituals My fingers doing rituals You may have seen through this lens way before me I'm taking all the time that I need But I can't center my body I've never felt this way before No I've never felt this way before It's breaking through the seams And we're holding on with all our might It's breaking through the seams And we're holding on with all our might You may have seen through this lens way before me If you come too close You're gonna pick up my cold If you come too close You're gonna pick up my cold You may have seen through this lens way before me If you come too close You're gonna pick up my cold You may have seen through this lens way before me If you come too close You're gonna pick up my cold If I were you I'd try to do What I could to You want to know To know, to know Let's find some truth If I were you I'd try to do What I could to You want to know To know, to know Let's find some truth If I were you I'd try to do What I could do You want to know You know, you know Let's find the truth If I were you I'd try to do What I could do You want to know You know, you know Let's find the truth If I were you I'd try to do What I could do You want to know Let's find some truth

    Spaceship
You are my spaceship Fly me to the moon I'll lift you up to the sky In your hot air balloon It's moments like this I appreciate Just how you always Begin to radiate I promised you I'd always be here for you I promised you Even when I can't lift you anymore But right now When you're tired And you ask so sweetly I'll still carry you Do you remember Laying in your room? I kissed you goodnight And you asked me to stay with you It's moments like this I wish I could pause time And just stay in this For a little while I promised you I'd always be here for you I promised you Even when I can't lift you anymore But right now When you're tired And you ask so sweetly I'll still carry you There's so much to do So much to say I got so much love That it carries me away I drive you crazy With my silly little songs I sing all day Sometimes you sing along And if there's anything that I left with you After i'm gone I hope you remember this tune Oooo I promised you I'd always be here for you I promised you Even when I can't lift you anymore But right now When you're tired And you ask so sweetly I'll still carry you

You Don't Realize (feat. Matty Carlock)
Crazy All of the thoughts that I thought And baby You see I've tried more than once And I've let you know that I, I've got too much weighing on me, oh And I, I've tried so hard to pretend That you respect me You don't realize that you're just making up You don't realize that you're just making up You don't realize that you're just making up lies Ooo, Ooo Baby, your touch has gone cold Lately I've been told by whispers That you've got him, got him, got him Rolling through your mind We used to drive all night And you'd roll your eyes And I'd lip sync our favorite songs Under the summer moonlight And it's crazy, my baby Won't you come clean tonight? Spread your wings gently Your eyes lit by candlelight Free like a hummingbird Out of sync with my slow beating heart Remember when we danced all night He was out of sight, he was out of mind You don't realize that you're just making up You don't realize that you're just making up You don't realize that you're just making up lies Ooo, Ooo Never really thought I'd begin to start to Reminisce these thoughts when things fell apart years ago Maybe I'm just getting older Maybe I'm just getting older Maybe I'm just getting older Never really thought I'd begin to start to Reminisce these thoughts when things fell apart years ago Maybe I'm just getting older Maybe I'm just getting older Maybe I'm just getting older Maybe I'm just getting older You don't realize that you're just making up You don't realize that you're just making up You don't realize that you're just making up lies Ooo, Ooo

    I Am Onto You
You know I am onto you From the beginning I knew of your evil You, man, are what's wrong with me I'm stuck inside this brain Backed up like a dog, oh, oh I've been betting on it, knowing nothing really matters Oh Nothings gonna change, we'll live on this way I've been betting on it, knowing nothing really matters Oh Nothings gonna change, we'll live on this way You know I am onto you From the beginning I knew of your evil You, sir, are what's wrong with this world You get inside their brains and make them think like dogs, oh I've been betting on it, knowing nothing really matters Oh Nothings gonna change, we'll live on this way I've been betting on it, knowing nothing really matters Oh Nothings gonna change, we'll live on this way I've been betting on it, knowing nothing really matters Oh I've been betting on it, knowing nothing really matters Oh Can we waste some more time? I feel more alive Yet I'm broken inside I wanna feel more alive I've been betting on it, knowing nothing really matters Oh Nothings gonna change, we'll live on this way I've been betting on it, knowing nothing really matters Oh Nothings gonna change, we'll live on this way I've been betting on it, knowing nothing really matters Oh, (You know, I am onto you) I've been betting on it, knowing nothing really matters Oh, (From the beginning, I knew of your evil) You know, I am onto you

    If The Lights Go Out
If the lights go out Will we think anything of it? What if they never come back? What if they never come back? And we're left like coyotes Searching the night We can play another game I'll get all the letters out We can play another game I'll get all the letters out When the night time comes Will we bring it outside for more? What if the neighbors come out? What if the neighbors come out? And we dance by the fire And feel so alive We can play another game (We can play) I'll get all the letters out (Forever if you want, ever if you want) We can play another game (We can play) I'll get all the letters out (Forever if you want, ever if you want) And I'm noticing this is not as sturdy as before And I'm convincing myself this mess is farther away But I know we need to plan for tomorrow We can play another game (We can play) I'll get all the letters out (Forever if you want, ever if you want) We can play another game (We can play) I'll get all the letters out (Forever if you want, ever if you want) We can play another game (We can play) I'll get all the letters out (Forever if you want, ever if you want) We can play another game (We can play) I'll get all the letters out (Forever if you want, ever if you want)

    Normal
The weeks move by Feels like a short time Till you have to go back to normal I've been scarred These buildings feel bizarre I'm not sure what is normal I can't see your mouth But I can see the worry in your eyes It's silent like upstate I can hear the train doors from my house Do I let you inside? Or do we stay on the porch Drifting apart With candles out to keep us warm The years move on It feels like a short time I guess this is what is normal I feel scared My mind is feeling bizarre I was told that this is normal I can't see your mouth But I can see the worry in your eyes It's silent like upstate I can hear the train doors from my house Do I let you inside? Or do we stay on the porch Drifting apart With candles out to keep us warm I'll meet you on top of the rooftop We can blow smoke through the raindrops And we'll do it over and over and over again I'll meet you on top of the rooftop We can blow smoke through the raindrops And we'll do it over and over and over again And we'll do it over and over and over again (I'll meet you on top of the rooftop,We can blow smoke through the raindrops) And we'll do it over and over and over again (I'll meet you on top of the rooftop,We can blow smoke through the raindrops) And we'll do it over and over and over again (I'll meet you on top of the rooftop,We can blow smoke through the raindrops) And we'll do it over and over and over again (I'll meet you on top of the rooftop,We can blow smoke through the raindrops) I'll meet you on top of the rooftop

    Worry
People have a lot to say And I love to pick their brains Not to learn what they have shared But understand what hurt they seen Oh, it kills me from the inside Watching you hold it all together It's about time you Worry about yourself And not anyone else It's about time you Worry about yourself And not anyone else As the tables start to turn You sit alone Have your lessons been learned? Oh, it thrills me from the inside Watching you fall to the ground Ground It's about time you Worry about yourself And not anyone else It's about time you Worry about yourself And not anyone else I like when you write on me It keeps me calm When I don't know what to do When I don't know what to do I like when you write on me It keeps me calm When I don't know what to do When I don't know what to do It's about time you Worry about yourself And not anyone else And not anyone else It's about time you Worry about yourself And not anyone else And not anyone else oh It's about time you Worry about yourself And not anyone else Anyone else Anyone else Anyone else It's about time you Start to worry about yourself And not worry about anyone else Anyone else

    The Good Book (Acoustic)
We've been altering the good book And reciting it to the fools Making sure our ancestors will all have a good laugh Oh, oh, as if we even matter We are no better than the rest As if we even matter Oh, oh, oh The days are getting shorter And the nights are longing for you To come out and play The land is getting shorter And the water's drifting it away Oh, oh, oh Ezekiel's got something to tell us Hiding in the pages we read We've been suffering from this game Of telephone that's lasted all these years As if we even matter We are no better than the rest As if we even matter Oh, oh, oh The days are getting shorter And the nights are longing for you To come out and play The land is getting shorter And the water's drifting it away Oh, oh, oh We've been altering the good book And reciting it to the fools Making sure our ancestors will all have a good laugh We've been altering the good book And reciting it to the fools Making sure our ancestors will all have a good laugh The days are getting shorter And the nights are longing for you To come out and play The land is getting shorter And the water's drifting it away

Tell Me Where You Want to Go

About the recording & credits

Started during the COVID-19 pandemic, this EP introduced live drums to my home-studio recordings. With Jack Lawless living in Los Angeles, I sent him the songs, and he recorded drums on every track and sent them back. I recorded the other instruments and vocals using Logic Pro on a Mac, then produced, mixed, and mastered the EP myself.

Credits: David Triggiano — instruments (except drums), vocals, production, engineering, mixing and mastering; Jack Lawless — live drums on every track, recorded remotely in Los Angeles.

Tell Me Where You Want To Go
I've been living in close quarters with you But there ain't nothing we can't get through We are living through a weird, weird, weird time And while others are losing their minds I am so happy to be with you Tell me where you wanna go I'll daydream about it with you Pretend we're camping out in an Airbnb West side of the country I've been hearing the reporters spill news It's making me anxious, turn it off Let's order some food We are living through a weird, weird, weird time And while others are losing their minds I am so happy to be with you Tell me where you wanna go I'll daydream about it with you Pretend we're camping out in an Airbnb West side of the country I've been locked inside for 21 days But who's counting anyway I've been locked inside for 21 days But who's counting anyway I've been locked inside for 21 days (I've been locked inside for 21 days) But who's counting anyway Over 500 people have died, but who's counting anyway? Tell me where you wanna go I'll daydream about it with you Pretend we're camping out in an Airbnb West side of the country Tell me where you wanna go I'll daydream about it with you Pretend we're camping out in an Airbnb West side of the country Tell me where you wanna go I'll daydream about it with you (I'll daydream about it with you) Pretend we're camping out in an Airbnb West side of the country

    Dirty Water
I hope you find your bedroom to be cold And your office too too loud To concentrate I hope one of every pair of your socks Go missing when you go To put them on We finally found a way to get you out We didn't listen, we let you buy us out We had a way to finally shut you out We didn't listen, we did not turn out You can't, you can't understand This on your own You can't, you can't understand This on your own This on your own I hope your drain gets clogged when you shower Stand there in dirty water Anything to piss you off I wish you'd trip and fall On live television You can't, you can't understand This on your own You can't, you can't understand This on your own Millions rely on you But you couldn't even get one thing right Millions rely on you But you couldn't even get one thing right Millions rely on you But you couldn't even get one thing right You can't, you can't understand This on your own You can't, you can't understand This on your own You can't, you can't understand This on your own You can't, you can't understand This on your own This on your own

    You
I took a test today that told me I hated myself I would much rather exchange words with a person of your caliber You went out for a run, but you didn't come home today You were laying in bed, but you didn't wake up today The world is a mess today Although it always has been The more I learn, the more I get scared We've been taught a glorified history In a system that keeps bringing people down to their knees You went out for a run, but you didn't come home today You were laying in bed, but you didn't wake up today I can't breathe I have my ID right here That's my house I was just going home He doesn't deserve to be terrified by your army He has no gun What are you doing? He's had enough He's not even fighting Why are you attacking him? He has got rights He has got needs We are just people They are all people like you and me Believe me what I was trying to show you Is we can do better We can do it We can do anything Sacrifice my identity I'll do it I'll do anything You all are phenomenal You are beautiful and I love you Try to forgive me You went out for a run, but you didn't come home today You were laying in bed, but you didn't wake up today

    Fed Up
You are a bigot How could we take you serious? The words you're saying Are making me delirious I know what you want me to say Fall in line with the rest of the race But I believe in morals and empathy, oh Cause I'm already fed up with you Cause I'm already fed up with you Cause I'm already fed up with you I'm at a loss for words to say Tomorrow's results look grey Cars are trying to block the highways Cause I'm already fed up with you Cause I'm already fed up with you Cause I'm already fed up with you Cause I'm already fed up with you I'm already fed up with you I've made different decisions Based on the realities I've made different decisions Hiding from a disease I've made different decisions Based on the realities I've made different decisions Based on the realities Cause I'm already fed up with you (I'm already fed up with you) Cause I'm already fed up with you (I'm already fed up with you) I'm already fed up with you (I'm already fed up with you) Cause I'm already fed up with you (Cause I'm already fed up with you) I'm already fed up with you

    Rainy Day
Work fast and I'll move it too I think these screws are coming loose Replace the threads before they are too weak to hold It's better if we fix it now Than waiting for a rainy day It's better if we fix it now Than waiting for a rainy day Work fast, we've got to move I haven't felt this anxious The day is coming closer And I've been worrying Worrying about the future It's better if we fix it now Than waiting for a rainy day It's better if we fix it now Than waiting for a rainy day It's better if we fix it now Than waiting for a rainy day It's better if we fix it now Than waiting for a rainy day What if we helped each other? Wouldn't that make sense? We can make things We can trade things What we build will last longer than paper The value is the skill If we don't have that Then we can't go back To a time when we ruled the world It's better if we fix it now Than waiting for a rainy day It's better if we fix it now Than waiting for a rainy day It's better if we fix it now Than waiting for a rainy day It's better if we fix it now Than waiting for a rainy damn

About the recording & credits

Recorded in my parents’ basement as I moved toward electronic and pop music. I began incorporating Auto-Tune and making beats and software-instrument parts in Fruity Loops and Reason, recording with Cakewalk SONAR and my MOTU UltraLite. Live, I performed these songs with backing tracks on an iPod and a rack-mounted Auto-Tune unit to reproduce the vocal effects.

Credits: David Triggiano — performance and production; Cakewalk SONAR, MOTU UltraLite, Fruity Loops, Reason and Auto-Tune.

Live at Southpaw

About the recording & credits

Recorded directly from SouthPaw’s mixing board at the May 13, 2009 show in Brooklyn, opening for Chiddy Bang. The venue gave me the recording afterward. I played guitar and sang over backing tracks from an iPod, while Chris played live drums. To keep everything in sync, I put the music in the left stereo channel and a click track in the right, sending the music to the house mixer and the click directly to Chris’s in-ear headphones.

Credits: David Triggiano — guitar, vocals and backing tracks; Chris — live drums; recording — venue mixing-board feed, supplied by SouthPaw.

Bi-Polar Bear

About the recording & credits

Recorded in my childhood bedroom using Cakewalk SONAR, Fruity Loops and the MOTU UltraLite. Many songs were written while recording, as I experimented with techniques, effects and arrangements rather than following a fixed songwriting plan. Some tracks ended up deliberately—or at least unmistakably—incohesive. The album title reflects that unpredictable creative process.

Credits: David Triggiano — recording and production; Cakewalk SONAR, Fruity Loops and MOTU UltraLite.

Songs That Should Have Never Left the Bedroom

About the recording & credits

An entirely solo project from 2003–2005, largely recorded in my childhood bedroom. Many songs centered on acoustic guitar and vocals, with alternate tunings including DADADE, inspired in part by the Goo Goo Dolls. I also began experimenting with Fruity Loops, electronic drums and a Yamaha keyboard, recording in Cakewalk while transitioning from the Maya 10/10 to the MOTU UltraLite. Track 10 was recorded at Jerk Records in Middletown, New Jersey, with Pete Andrews producing and engineering.

Credits: David Triggiano — all instruments and vocals, home recording and production; Pete Andrews — producer and engineer (track 10 at Jerk Records).
