All Talk

Where it all began.
Before Wazzu and 1 T.B.A., there was All Talk — four middle school kids who had started writing songs together and recording demos on a four-track cassette recorder in drummer Jack's basement.
Band members: David — guitar and vocals; Peter — bass and vocals; Jack — drums; Justin — guitar.
The band only lasted a few months, but managed to squeeze in some songwriting, basement recordings, and one of the more questionable personnel decisions in middle school rock history.
Just before their first performance at the school talent show, Justin broke his arm. Rather than wait for their injured bandmate to recover, the remaining three started rehearsing without him and eventually decided to kick him out of the band entirely.
Not exactly a shining moment of childhood loyalty, but apparently the show had to go on.
Now a three-piece, the band made its debut at the middle school talent show. During the event, smoke from another act triggered the fire alarm, sending everyone outside.
While the band was standing outside the school, a passing car rolled by and someone shouted: “YOUR MOMMA WEARS COMBAT BOOTS!”
For reasons that probably made perfect sense to a group of middle schoolers, the phrase stuck.
It eventually became the title of the band's first full-length album, Your Mamma Wears Combat Boots, released under the name 1 T.B.A. later that year.
All Talk may have been short-lived, but it established the original three-piece lineup, produced some early four-track demos, and gave the band a story that would outlive the name itself.
Early recordings: Early four-track cassette demos recorded in Jack's basement, including the unfinished April 2001 recording of “All Talk.”
